UK-ASEAN Knowledge Partnership (via British Council)

This project aimed at addressing one of the primary drawbacks of Vietnam logistics industry: the lack of ICT applications and innovations, by developing an R&D collaboration between Vietnam and the UK, a world top-4 country in logistics performance. To achieve this aim, a unique consortium with complementary expertise of three leading universities LJMU, Vietnam National University – University of Engineering and Technology (VNU-UET), Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport (UT-HCMC) and two leading industrial partners AIMES, UK and NE, Vietnam was created in a joint research effort. This consortium has achieved the following objectives:

  • To initiate a long term, sustainable international strategy between the UK and Vietnam in the area of logistics both in terms of research and business developments.
  • To study the current situation in the Vietnam logistics industry, and to identify the areas where ICT can be applied to improve performance.
  • To create a seed-corn research on the impact of innovative ICT on sustainable development of Vietnam logistics industry, focusing on the most important factors: multi-modal logistics and port access.
  • To consider applying the initial research results to industrial partners, and to disseminate the results to a wide audience.
