In the morning 6th July 2016 at the seminar room of Liverpool Logistics Offshore and Marine Research Institute, Department of Maritime and Mechanical Engineering, LJMU. Assoc. Prof. Lam Thu Bui, the Head of Faculty of Information Technology, Le Quy Don Technical University, Hanoi, Vietnam gave an introduction about the latest research in Computational Intelligence & Applications.
Prof. Bui is one of the principal academic partners in the project “Operational research for green logistics in Vietnam – a UK-Vietnam research collaboration”, funded by the UK BEIS, under the Newton Research Collaborations Programme (3) and being managed by Liverpool John Moores University, The project started in February 2016 and will end in February 2017.
In this talk, Prof. Bui presented an overview of Faculty of Information Technology (FIT)/Le Quy Don Technical University (LQDTU). He introduced related research works at FIT focusing on the computational intelligence (CI), its applications to fundamental problems in maritime logistics such as scheduling, resource allocation, and planning. He also introduced the collaboration between FIT research group and Dr Nguyen’s group.
A followed discussion took place in a lively, many experts expressed the concerns with research results and the ability to enhance exchange and cooperation between LJMU and Vietnam in operational research.
Dr. Trung Thanh Nguyen, the principal investigator of the project, also emphasized the applicability of the given results of research into the marine transport and green logistics – a UK-Vietnam research collaboration.
